On the afternoon of November 8, 2024, a symposium for the development of young faculty members from the Department of Russian and the General Languages Division was held in the conference room of our school. The purpose of this symposium was to provide support for their research endeavors, help them explore appropriate research directions, and foster a supportive academic environment.

At the meeting, Dean Cao Ruonan underscored that research is not only an extension of teaching but also a critical avenue for young faculty to enhance their academic capabilities and strengthen the competitiveness of their disciplines. She encouraged the young teachers to focus on their individual research trajectories, actively explore suitable research directions, and continuously refine their research skills. Drawing from her own research experience, Dean Cao urged the attendees to cultivate academic confidence. She emphasized the importance of becoming part of established academic teams, finding academic partners, and advancing research through collaboration and academic exchange. Throughout this process, the school will continue to support the research efforts of young faculty by providing access to valuable academic resources and research platforms.

During the exchange session, the young faculty members discussed their research plans and ideas, and explored the challenges and uncertainties they encountered in the research process. The symposium not only helped the young teachers from the Department of Russian and the General Languages Division gain a clearer understanding of their individual research directions, but it also boosted their motivation and confidence in their research.
